Abstract
Service providers worldwide have been deploying
IP centric broadband access networks in order to
increase their revenues with IPTV consumer
services. Multi-streams, high definition new
media experiences are emerging, demanding
continued optimization in the access
infrastructure such as the rapid adoption of a
deep fiber access build. Furthermore, a
portfolio breath of networking technologies is
required to maximize Service Provider coverage.
Solutions offering the benefits of Flexibility
of adapting to changing standards, delivering
robust traffic management and strong policy
enforcement constitute nowadays a non-negotiable
baseline.
One area often overlooked in the transition
towards deep-fiber networking is the overall
implications of a robust IPTV service quality
assurance solution set. Our belief is that
leading Service Provider are deploying video
content as part of a Quad Play service offering
without a real-time mechanism to measure and
diagnose QoS/QoE. While this deployment of IP
based services are not only opening the door to
a world of new opportunities and applications,
they are also creating a new set of challenges &
bottlenecks for the network management and
operators of these services. As the Service
Providers are experiencing an increase in the
number of channels as well as subscribers takes
rates, a scalable and reliable solution is
required to address monitoring of service
quality.
Embedded real time service assurance
capabilities in deep-fiber access systems is now
becoming available for service providers,
insuring end-to-end service monitoring, true
Quality of Experience (QoE) measurements,
significant reductions in services outages (MTTR)
and increases of service roll out of next
generation profitable services. This
presentation will highlight these new trends and
capabilities, enabling profitable deployment of
IPTV services by leveraging operational
efficiency improvements.
