Topic: “EPON ONU/ONT Evolution and Architecture Considerations”
Teknovus Multiple ONU/ONT Solutions Satisfying Multiple Broadband Application Scenarios
Speaker: Mr Rick Li, Senior Director, Technology and Strategic Development, Teknovus

Abstract
This presentation discusses various factors that have significant impact to the design and deployment of ONU/ONT devices in an IEEE EPON based broadband access network. Such factors include different life cycles and upgrade cycles of user interfaces and network interfaces, location of network demarcation points within the device, location and mapping of key functions such as networking protocol processing, service adaptation and media adaptation, switching, traffic management/QoS, device management and control, and the types of ONU/ONT devices (single subscriber, multiple subscriber, and gateway).

We will also present the world's smallest SFP ONU (integrated EPON MAC and optical transceiver in SFP packaging), first POE ONU, and architectural consideration for the use of EPON LLIDs and QoS mapping schemes in different types of ONU/ONT devices.
